 We are going to look at a primary source today, and discuss 4.7. We will fill out a chart (study chart) and write the opening paragraph of a LEQ (foreshadow).  If you finish this, there are some MCQ assigned on APClassroom (do it).

  Today we are going to continue to review (take notes on the note guide I handed out) and then we will look at 4.7 in your textbook. Homework: If we don't get to 4.7 today, I do need you to read it tonight. It's short.

 Today we are going to continue to review (take notes on the note guide I handed out) and then we will look at 4.7 in your textbook. HW: Finish whatever make up work you need to do. You test on Units 3-4 will probably be next week. We need to get through Unit 5 by break and it would be good if we were a little a head to review 1-5 before break.

 Today, we are going to review Unit 4.1 - 4.5. I'll give you a note guide if you would like it. HW: Read 4.6 for Monday. Also answer the questions assigned on AP Classroom.

 Today, we are going to read 4.5. We will also look at a PowerPoint review - please take notes. We will also discuss your SAQs and MCs from yesterday. HW: DBQ primary sources. I need you to read them and mark them up (meaning quickly SOAPSTone them on the paper - I will probably collect these): you might have a DBQ coming.

 Today we need to look at the videos that we didn't get to from yesterday. Give you some time to finish the KWL. We will also review. HW: Do the MC questions and question # 1 of the SAQs at the end of 4.4.

 Today we are going to read 4.4 - "The Atlantic Slave Trade". We will first begin to fill out the KWL handout. After reading we will look at a powerpoint and view the following videos. Please take notes. HW: Read the handout on "The Columbian Exchange" https://slavevoyages.org/voyage/ship#slave-

 Today we are going to look at the Columbian Exchange.  Learning Objective D: Explain the causes of the Columbian Exchange and its e f fects on the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. KC-4.1.V - The new connections between the Eastern and Western Hemispheres resulted in the exchange of new plants, animals, and diseases, known as the Columbian Exchange. KC-4.1.V.A - European colonization of the Americas led to the unintentional transfer of disease vectors, including mosquitoes and rats, and the spread of diseases that were endemic in the Eastern Hemisphere, including smallpox, measles, and malaria. Learning Target: I can explain the e f fects of the Columbian Exchange.  We are going to read 4.3 in your textbooks and do the MC questions.

 Today we are going to look at a primary source from 4.2 (please mark it up - it's an important one to remember and maybe use on a LEQ or DBQ). We will also look at the following video and "review" or "take notes" on some key people and key concepts that you might want to know.

 Today we are going to read section 4.2 in your textbooks, and then I want you to choose one of the SAQs at the end of the chapter and do it. 4.2 Exploration: Causes and Effects Learning Objective: Describe the role of states in the expansion of maritime exploration from 1450 to 1750. KC-4.1.III - New state-supported transoceanic maritime exploration occurred in this period. Learning Target: I can determine the e f fects of Spanish Exploration.

 Today we are going to look at innovations that helped exploration and trade and led to the building of Oceanic Empires. Today we are going to look at UNIT 4, discuss it, and look at the overview and 4.1 in your textbooks.     UNIT 4: 1450 -1750 - TRANSOCEANIC EMPIRES RP = Causation, Change and Continuity over time are really important in this unit 4.1: Technological Innovations  Learning Objective A: Explain how cross-cultural interactions resulted in the di f fusion of technology and facilitated changes in patterns of trade and travel from 1450 to 1750.  So, today - I'm going to give you time to work on the DBQs. If you finish please do the MC questions assigned on AP Classroom and begin to work your way through KHAN ACADEMY. Note, there are very few things in this section in KHAN - do it.

 Today, you will have time to write a DBQ.  You have your choice between the handout (which will require to come up with two outside sources) or the one in your textbook on page 185. If you know a great deal about one, do the other. I will hand out a rubric for you. Please use the time wisely. This DBQ will be due on Monday so you have plenty of time to perfect it.  HOMEWORK: Work on MC questions on AP Classroom (Unit 3) and DBQ.

So, today we are going to review Unit 3. Note, I'm going to give you a test on Unit 3 and Unit 4 combined as both work together. So today we will play a 4-corner exercise, do MC unit questions on AP Classroom, and finally talk about DBQs and the DBQ rubric. You will write a DBQ in class tomorrow.   HOMEWORK: Watch the video below and take notes: Extra video on DBQs if needed.

 Today, I'm going to give you about 15 minutes to work on the Venn Diagram from yesterday, read some articles on Sikhism, and then we will move into 3.4 3.1 Learning Objective A: Explain how and why various land-based empires developed and expanded from 1450 to 1750. KC-4.3.II - Imperial expansion relied on the increased use of gunpowder, cannons, and armed trade to establish large empires in both hemispheres. KC-4.3.II.B - Land empires included the Manchu in Central and East Asia; the Mughal in South and Central Asia; the Ottoman in Southern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa; and the Safavids in the Middle East.
