 Today, we are going to start UNIT 3. This apparently is a very short Unit about empire expansion between the yours 1450 - 1750. We will read the overview of the Unit and 3.1 and answer MC questions both in book and on AP Classroom. 3.1 EMPIRES EXPAND Learning Objective A: Explain how and why various land-based empires developed and expanded from 1450 to 1750.  KC-4.3.II - Imperial expansion relied on the increased use of gunpowder, cannons, and armed trade to establish large empires in both hemispheres.  KC-4.3.II.B - Land empires included the Manchu in Central and East Asia; the Mughal in South and Central Asia; the Ottoman in Southern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa; and the Safavids in the Middle East.  KC-4.3.III.i - Political and religious disputes led to rivalries and conflict between states. Learning Target: I can explain why HW: Study for tomorrow's test.

Today, I would like to quickly revisit the SAQs from 2.5 and discuss "finance" and economy, and then move onto 2.6. We will read 2.6 in class. I have some homework on travel narratives (2.5) for you to read, and tomorrow we will do something with the plague.

 Today - we are going to practice SAQs. Remember you have a test on Monday. It should be short.   First I want you to do this question: In one to three paragraphs, explain the similarities and differences in state building in different parts of the world between 1200 and 1450.
